SA COVID-19 Update: Level 5 lockdown restrictions

The South Australian Government announced a Level 5 stay at home order for seven days from 6:00pm 20 July following the latest outbreak of COVID-19.

NDS is advocating at all levels of government to address the specific needs of the disability sector, including the urgent need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  In Victoria, we are working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the NDIA Director of Provider Engagement for VIC/TAS on a number of issues, but specifically we can update you on:Business and Service DeliveryThe Prime Minister announced on the weekend that all non-essential gatherings be avoided and so the Victorian Government has banned non-essential services. The Commonwealth and State Governments have included disability services as ongoing essential services at this time. The State Government has provided additional guidance through the Department of Health and Human Services on physical distancing and actions to reduce transmission.They specifically highlight that, in addition to general workplace considerations, community service organisations should now:

The State Government has announced their Support Package for Business, you can find details and register your interest here.WorkforceOne element of the COVID-19 response is the need to coordinate the available workforce with changing participant requirement and service availability. As services move to close some activities, they have staff available, whilst other organisations may be experiencing heightened need for trained staff. Please contact Fiona Still, State Manager, if you are a registered provider and may have workers available or are experiencing difficulty with obtaining workers. NDS will be working with the Victorian NDIA Provider Engagement Director to help coordinate supply and demand of workers.ResourcesNDS's coronavirus hub is being updated regularly with information on current resources and training to assist service providers.Victorian members should monitor the DHHS website for the latest health guidance.
