SBS News: NDIS funding boost might be too late for many providers
SBS News is reporting that the much-welcomed $850 million funding boost to the NDIS might not be enough to save many providers. NDS Acting CEO David Moody is interviewed in the article.
SBS reports that the funding, which will begin in July, is not likely to relieve the great pressure that service providers are feeling in multiple areas of operation.
SBS interviews Melbourne provider, Knoxbrooke, whose CEO Kristian Dauncey says that under-pricing of services has caused them to endure substantial financial losses and forced them to close their hydrotherapy pool.
The article also features an interview with NDS Acting CEO David Moody, who says that providers have faced significant challenges, but he is hopeful that the price increase will make a difference.
"Until now disability service providers have borne the brunt of inadequate NDIS prices, with 28 per cent operating at a loss and 1 in 10 discussing closure altogether," David says.
