The Federal Government has released an options paper on the establishment of a Disability Employment Centre of Excellence. Informed by initial consultation, the paper is a key component of the Department of Social Service’s extensive consultation process on the role and scope of the centre. The consultation closes on 27 November and NDS will be lodging a submission.

The centre is intended to improve employment outcomes for people with disability and increase the capacity of employment service providers and employers. It will also assist families and carers and disability advocates. It is an election commitment of the Federal Government and $1.1 million has been allocated for its development, with a start date scheduled for July next year.
