There is no doubt that the NDIS presents one of the largest job creation opportunities in Australian history. According to an NDIS Workforce report earlier this year, the NDIS workforce will need to grow by an additional 83,000 full-time equivalent staff to support participants at the scheme’s projected peak.

In addition to those, 213,000 workers will be needed to replace those leaving the industry due to high turnover.

But the numbers don’t speak to the full picture of what is required.

Don’t miss this opportunity to understand how you can help to deliver the disability sector workforce of the future.

Program highlights

  • NDIS Commission Update from Tracy Mackey, NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commissioner
  • Renae Lowry, National Program Director, BLCW will explore the NDIS Workforce Plan: 2021 – 2025
  • Mel Schlaeger and Cath Mahony from Let’s Talk Disability, will discuss ‘What makes a good support worker?’
  • Sean Hall, Founder and CEO Energx on ‘How to Re-Energise Yourself and Your People’
  • Panel discussion: ‘NDIS Workforce Capability Framework Tools and Resources’ with Jo Grissard and Kim Windsor from the NDIS Commission

She went on to win Paralympic medals at every Paralympic event in which she has competed and hasn’t stopped there. Karni was the Patron of the International Day of People with a Disability and was awarded the Pride of Australia medal. She was granted the Bond University Alumni Community Achievement Award (2021); won the Qld Teacher and Trainer of the Year (2015); and was awarded the Alumni of the Year award for the faculty of health at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Occupational Violence and Worker Fatigue in Disability Care

Occupational violence and work-related fatigue are two prominent Work, Health and Safety (WHS) risks and hazards faced by workers in the disability sector. This masterclass explores the notion of WHS resilience and the manager’s role in assessing, preventing, and responding to occupational violence and worker fatigue.

In this session, participants will gain an understanding of their WHS compliance obligations, learn about best practice systems, tools and strategies, and engage in reflective exercises to apply their learning to real situations in their workplace.

Facilitated by: Anna Pannuzzo, Director of WorkPlacePLUS, NDS’s IR/HR partner and Australia’s leading workplace investigation and HR consultancy supporting employers in the health, community and NFP sectors.
