Fair Work Commission extends unpaid pandemic leave provisions in care sector Awards until 31 December 2022

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) decided on 15 July 2022 to extend the Schedule X Pandemic Leave provisions [pdf] in various care sector Awards until 31 December 2022. The decision follows an application lodged by the Health Services Union seeking the pandemic leave extension for five care sector Awards.

The Awards covered are:

It is important to note that in a separate determination [pdf], the FWC also extended the Schedule X Pandemic Leave provisions in the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award 2010. The FWC extended the unpaid Pandemic Leave provisions on the basis that the Awards above covered the most at-risk and vulnerable sectors, namely the health care, aged care, disability support, and other care sectors.
