The Fair Work Commission (FWC) today (Friday 2 June) handed down its annual wage review Decision [PDF]  for workers receiving the National Minimum Wage, as well as those employed through modern awards.

The FWC has declared a 5.75 per cent increase to apply to the National Minimum Wage, as well as to all pay rates within modern awards. The new pay rates will apply from 1 July. It is also a timely reminder that the minimum base rate in an Enterprise Agreement cannot be less than the minimum base rate in an award for an equivalent classification level.

National Disability Services recently made a submission to the NDIS Annual Pricing Review, calling for NDIS prices to be set by an independent pricing body — similar to the independent setting of wages each year through the FWC. The NDIS Annual Pricing Review outcome is due to be handed down shortly and is also to take effect in July. NDS has called for the full wage increases announced by the FWC to be reflected in the updated NDIS pricing arrangements.
