Laurie Leigh said the vaccination rate of people with disability was currently sitting at around 77 per cent.

"It really gives the state of WA some critical extra time that it needs to widely protect some of the most vulnerable people in society—people with disability.

WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson has urged more Western Australians to use the opportunity to get a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

"I think it's really important that the state works with federal authorities to make sure the booster system and the vaccination is rolled out properly for people with disability," said Laurie Leigh.

"In addition, this is a great chance to use that extra time to make sure rapid antigent tests are freely available both for people with disability and also for service providers and the people working and supporting people with disability."

Leigh said you can just look over to the east and see the lessons we need to learn there around the workforce shortages that are happening in the disability sector at the moment.

"Now would be a great time to make sure that doesn't happen in WA."
