Expressions of interest sought: Participate in Sector Capability Building Project
Demand for innovative and personalised supports is expected to increase dramatically with NDIS rolls out, as the NDIS market expands and responds to the needs of NDIS participants. In this context, providing high-quality, on-the-job training is critical.
The Department of Education and Training (DET) is seeking expressions of interest from disability service organisations to participate in a pilot to support organisations to conduct work placements in disability direct care vocational education and training qualifications.
Disability service organisations participating in this pilot will be able to access a Capability Building Coordinator (CBC) resource to support the development of a student placement program for up to 10 disability service provider organisations to provide greater access to student placements. This will provide an opportunity for students to develop skills enabling them to be work-ready upon graduation.
Participating organisations will also be able to access - at no cost to the organisation - a tailored workplace supervision program to improve the support of staff to provide high-quality supervision of students in accredited training. Your organisation will play a critical role in piloting and developing a work placement model that will support the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) future workforce and clients.
The student placement program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop relevant workplace skills in the following disciplines and courses:
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Certificate IV in Disability
