With the year ahead presenting such significant challenges and opportunities, employment service providers cannot afford to miss this conference. The Disability at Work 2018 preliminary conference program has now been released, and it features an exciting selection of presentations and workshops that will help you navigate the new operating environment ahead.

A selection of invigorating speakers will cover topical issues on each day and the conference will include content tailored to inform and stimulate thinking among providers of Disability Employment Services and Disability Enterprises.

  • Gillian Turnbull of Social Ventures Australia will explain how to measure the impact of employment for people with disability, taking into account factors such as job aspirations, career interests, relevant supports and employer-matching.
  • Stuart Ellis-Myers (aka ‘Twitchy’) - one of North America’s most in-demand motivational speakers - will deliver a high-energy presentation on how to be ‘unstoppable’ and a concurrent session on using fun to improve the employment of people with disability.
  • Consultants GIVEN will detail how both open and supported employment providers can become proactive as they respond to program and funding model changes.
  • NDS Chief Executive Ken Baker will present a plan to secure a stronger growth for disability employment.

Disability and carer support for the conference

NDS has received funding from the Department of Social Services to assist people with disability and their carers to attend the conference. This may be allocated to cover all or part of the cost of registration fees, travel and accommodation or conference support costs. The amount available to individuals will depend on the number of people who apply for funding assistance.
