Consultation on proposed SA restrictive practices rules
15/12/2020
As a result of the NDIS, the South Australian Government has drafted amendments to the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 to provide clarity to people with disability and the sector about restrictive practices.
Consultation is now open for providers, people with disability, families and carers via the YourSAy website, closing Friday, 29 January 2021 at 5:00pm.
The Disability Inclusion (Restrictive Practices-NDIS) Amendment Bill 2020 (the Bill) is focused on reducing and eliminating restrictive practices and supporting the use of appropriately measured and ethical practices. The proposed amendments are intended to provide a new NDIS Restrictive Practice Authorisation regime for South Australians with disability. This will meet the principles for restrictive practices authorisation and will enable national consistency across states and territories and streamline processes.
The South Australian Government invites you to share your thoughts about the proposed changes and encourage others, including clients and their family members, to have their say. Feedback will inform the policy direction ahead of the proposed Bill’s introduction to Parliament early in the New Year, and support the development of the regulations.
