And that’s a wrap! But what’s next?

On 30 May 2019, the Sector Engagement Team held the final NDIS Implementation Workshop and concluded the three-year program of events under the the 'NDIS Readiness and Implementation Workshop Series'.

Over this time, the team has engaged with approximately 7000 people through multiple roadshows, board meetings, CEO network meetings, NDIS Readiness Workshops and NDIS Implementation Workshops, exploring the operational mechanics of the NDIS and how organisations might best prepare for, and implement, these changes into the systems and processes of their organisations.

The series included regular presentations from the National Disability Insurance Agency, the Department of Health and Human Services, the NDIS Partners in the Community, the Office of the Disability Services Commissioner and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. NDS would like to thank representatives from these organisations who contributed their time, shared important updates and responded to many nuanced and complex questions.

What’s next?

Although the 'readiness and implementation' component of the project has come to a close, NDS will remain active across Victoria, delivering face-to-face workshops under the new project banner – NDIS in Practice. The next phase of the project moves away from the operational detail and nitty gritty of the Scheme, looking beyond the transition phase and exploring how organisations can embed good NDIS practice into their business models.

The NDIS in Practice project will be delivered across nine locations in Victoria and include half-day workshops dedicated to the topics of NDIS Quality and Safeguards, NDIS Strategy, Marketing and the NDIS, and ICT systems. Each session will be designed with input from subject matter experts and with learnings applied through workshop activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and learn together promoting good practice, innovation and shared problem-solving.

Events are due to commence in September 2019. NDS will keep you updated through the NDIS News and What’s On emails when registration becomes available.
