Accessing PPE in Victoria
30/07/2020
NDS is aware of the huge demand for PPE at present, and welcomes feedback from members in the event of shortages or delays in access.
Aside from providers’ usual channels to access PPE, there are several additional options:
National Medical Stockpile (NMS)
The NDIA advise that if providers are experiencing issues accessing PPE, NDIA funded providers can access PPE through the NMS. Requests can be made via: NDISCOVIDPPE@health.gov.au
DHHS
DHHS advise Victorian providers unable to access PPE from their usual channels or via the NMS, to contact the Department. All requests are triaged with priority given to facilities and programs where there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19.
They note that there is a high demand for PPE, therefore providers are encouraged to source PPE independently if they can, prior to requesting stock from the department. Requests can be made via: CSPPE@dhhs.vic.gov.au
Masks for vulnerable Victorians
Furthermore, DHHS recently announced the distribution of 2.1 million reusable face masks to vulnerable Victorians, including people with disabilities. Service providers can order these for their clients via an online form.
NDS Partners
NDS members are also able to access PPE stock sourced through NDS partners at member-only rates. NDS is providing this service on a cost recovery basis. The PPE Marketplace is available on the NDS COVID-19 Members only webpage.
