2020 Disability Support Awards Gala Dinner Cancelled
22/05/2020
Due to the unforeseeable impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NDS has made the decision to cancel the 2020 WA Disability Support Awards Gala Dinner. While we are disappointed, we have a wider responsibility to prioritise the health of people with disability and to support the disability sector to prioritise their organisationsâ response to COVID-19 during this time. The WA Disability Support Awards is about showcasing and celebrating the significant contribution of individuals and teams who support people with disability to achieve their goals, and NDS is confident this can still be achieved for the 2020 Awards. From 22 until 28 June, the 2020 WA Award finalists and winners will be announced on the Disability Support Awards Facebook page. NDS State Manager WA Julie Waylen said âMore than 160 nominations were received this year and we are committed to celebrating these exceptional West Australians who have had a profound impact on the lives of the people they work with and support.â âWe encourage the sector to follow the Awards Facebook page and to like, comment and share finalists and winners stories so that the important work, brilliant nominees and significant achievements in building a more inclusive WA are highlighted in the community. In addition, NDS will make special mention of this yearâs nominees, finalists and winners as part of the 2021 WA Gala Dinner. âAll, nominees, nominators and sponsors have also been notified of the changes and people who have already purchased tickets will now be given a full refund,â said Julie NDS proudly hosts the WA Awards in partnership with the Department of Communities and supporting sponsor Lotterywest, along with gold sponsors AtWork Australia, HESTA, Insurance Commission of Western Australia and Therapy Focus. We would like to sincerely acknowledge the sponsors of the 2020 WA Disability Support Awards for their ongoing contribution towards celebrating the outstanding people who work in the WA disability sector.
