Victorian Worker Mobility Reduction Scheme
NDS is hosting a meeting on the Victorian Worker Mobility Reduction Scheme for registered SIL and short term accommodation providers.
We will be discussing the recently announced Victorian Worker Mobility Reduction Payment. This will include consideration of how organisations can calculate ‘the reduction’ for an individual, so we can work towards some uniformity across the sector. The meeting will also consider what evidence should be requested of workers who are choosing to cease working with other providers. Please let us know if there are other aspects of the Scheme you would like to discuss.
The Victorian and Commonwealth Governments $15 million Worker Mobility Reduction Payment initiative will enable disability residential service providers to limit worker mobility in disability residential settings, where possible. The initiative will support providers to reduce movement of support workers between sites.
Funding is in place so that where providers need to reconfigure shifts, they can recognise the impact on affected workers.
The NDIA will support registered Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short Term Accommodation (STA) providers and the Victorian Government will support residential services providers that have not yet transferred fully to the NDIS.
The payments will:
- facilitate compliance with Victorian public health orders (as applicable)
- support any additional costs of administration, recruitment of additional support workers, roster management and payments for any of its support workers due to such limitations being in place over the period in respect of which the payments apply.
The NDIA will email eligible providers inviting them to opt-in. The email will outline the terms of the initiative which runs from 1 September 2020 until 31 December 2020.

The Victorian Government has requirements for disability service providers to minimise movement across worksites. Information about these requirements is available from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
