Victorian update: NDIS Commission confirms 6-month extension to NDIS check transitional arrangement

What you need to know
- The NDIS Commission has officially confirmed the six month extension to Victorian transitional arrangements as announced by NDS on Monday
- Workers currently meeting Victorian transitional requirements have until 31 January 2022 to apply for their NDIS Check
- Workers who have not applied for an NDIS check by 31 Jan 2022 will not be able to continue in a risk assessed role
The NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission has officially confirmed a six month extension to Victorian NDIS Check transitional arrangements as announced by NDS on Monday 26 July.
Organisations will receive a Provider Alert from the NDIS Commission confirming the new deadline.
Workers who do not have a Working with Children Check (WWCC) but have a DWES Check and a Police Check will now have until 31 January 2022 to apply for an NDIS Check. These workers will not be able to continue in a risk assessed role after this new deadline if they have not applied for a check.
Workers who have a WWCC do not need an NDIS check until their WWCC expires.
All new starters must have an NDIS check before they commence in a risk assessed role in Victoria.
