Thoughts for those affected by the storm in Victoria

NDS is aware that a number of our members have been affected, which is impacting their ability to deliver services. Those we have been in contact with have demonstrated their capacity to get on with the important task of supporting their service users, community and staff.

The Vic Emergency website has some useful information on relief and recovery from the storms, including:

  • Leaving your home (or business) in an emergency during COVID-19
  • Financial assistance
  • Registering your details
  • Road closures
  • Protecting your health during and after a flood
  • Power outages
  • Personal wellbeing
  • Drinking water and water safety

On behalf of everyone at NDS, we would like to send our best wishes for a safe and quick resumption of services to those affected.

Focus on Vaccination information for disability

The Victorian Government has published vaccination information for the disability sector on the coronavirus website. Providers can find information about the COVID-19 vaccines for people with a disability, carers, volunteers, and disability support workers. In addition, NDS's Vic COVID toolkit has practical materials, helpful guidance tools and lessons learned to assist now and in the event of a major service disruption.

A reminder that support workers, carers (paid and unpaid) and volunteers are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine if they directly support people with disability of any age.

Also, if additional support for people with disability is required to receive a vaccination, Disability Liaison Officers can assist.
