In light of the Stay at Home Direction issued by the South Australian Government, the NDIA has adopted temporary measures to help ensure disability-related supports and services are delivered in a way which is consistent with public health advice.

Participants who receive an average of at least one hour a day of face-to-face daily living supports can access up to $50 per week from their budget for PPE for their use when a worker is supporting them.

New temporary supports for providers

Providers delivering essential daily life services under one of these three support categories:

• 0104 High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
• 0107 Daily Personal Activities
• 0115 Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Group or Shared Living Arrangement.

may now claim PPE for support workers of up to $50 per worker, per participant, per day, or directly invoice the NDIA up to $1.70 per hour of support delivered, per participant, up to 24 hours per day.

Other temporary measures

Other temporary measures announced earlier this year and in place until February 2021 include:

• the ability for eligible NDIS participants to use plan funding to purchase low-cost Assistive Technology, including smart devices (up to $1500);
• greater plan flexibility to ensure access to supports;
• deep cleaning of residences in the event a support worker returns a positive COVID-19 test;
• additional support for participants who test positive for COVID-19 or who are required to isolate who live in a Supported Independent Living setting.
