Just released: Specialist Disability Accommodation Residential Agreement and Information Statements
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) have released the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Residency Agreement, along with an Information Statement for SDA participants entering into a standard Residential Tenancy Agreement. These documents are now available on the Consumer Affairs Victoria website, along with other useful information and resources.
All Victorian Specialist Disability Accommodation providers must enter into either an SDA agreement or Residential Tenancies agreement with each of their residents by no later than 31 December 2019. All SDA providers must use the information statements and agreements developed by CAV. Although providers are permitted to include additional terms, they are not permitted to develop their own information statements or agreements.
Participants must receive the appropriate Information Statement at least seven days prior to entering into an agreement. The provider must also ensure that the documents are explained in a language, mode of communication and terms that the participant is likely to understand. Keep up to date with SDA-specific information released by Consumer Affairs Victoria by subscribing to the SDA newsletter.
If you are an NDS member and have an SDA question, post it on the NDS Helpdesk for a quick and accurate response.
