Since the NDIS began, NDS has been negotiating with the Department of Health on the implementation of the Continuity of Support (CoS) Programme for people over 65 years who were receiving disability services but are ineligible for the NDIS. We made the Department aware of the need for a payment like Specialist Disability Accommodation to be made available for CoS clients living in supported accommodation.
The Government has responded by making $30.5 million available as a one-off Accommodation Grant. The maximum grant available varies by type and size of the accommodation. For example for a CoS client living in a 4-bed group home, an eligible provider can apply for up to $11,573. These funds can be used as a contribution to:
