Policy influence

NDS is a robust and independent advocate to governments on behalf of disability service providers.

  • Join the discussion

Joining NDS allows you to contribute to policy development, collaborate with peers and inform NDS’s work through a range of participative opportunities.

Additionally, NDS’s consultations and committees ensure that we remain responsive to the priorities and needs of our members, large and small, across Australia.

  • Access to decision-makers

NDS reflects the practical expertise, experience and concerns of service providers. NDS is represented on key government disability reference and advisory groups and is heavily involved in the design and implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

  • Access to research

Through the NDS Centre for Applied Disability Research, NDS carries out and contributes to research that has a strong practical and policy focus.

  • NDS election and committees

NDS is governed by a board that includes representation from all states and territories. NDS Organisational Members have the right to nominate for NDS’s Board and for state committees.

Please note that Organisational Associates can be involved in NDS’s national and state/territory sub-committees and special interest groups but do not have the right to nominate for a position or vote in NDS’s Board and state committees elections.
