Royal Commission Update

18/10/2023

As part of our ongoing analysis of the Disability Royal Commission final report, this update will cover key recommendations on improving housing for people with disability and the future of group homes.

The key recommendations for housing and group homes are concentrated in Part C of Volume 7: ‘Inclusive education, employment and housing’. The Royal Commission’s recommendations target the responsiveness of mainstream housing and homelessness systems and charts a way forward for more specialist forms of accommodation, such as boarding houses, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and group homes.
