What you need to know

  • The current Public Health Emergency Direction has been extended to 30 June 2022
  • Current settings for disability services remain the same
  • Tasmania Health has indicated that this is anticipated to be the last extension to the Public Health Emergency Declaration with businesses expected to embed COVID safety planning and behaviours as business-as-usual risk management

The Director of Public Health, Dr Mark Veitch, has extended the current Public Health Emergency Declaration for Tasmania until 30 June 2022.

Dr Veitch has indicated the order may end sooner than 30June. Further information regarding future changes is expected to be released over the coming weeks.

Settings for disability services (registered and unregistered) remain the same and include:

  • Requirement for certain disability support workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19, in particular high intensity supports.
  • Continue COVID safe behaviours:
    • Remain up to date with Vaccines
    • Wearing a mask when needed
    • Staying home if you are unwell
    • Get tested if you have symptoms
    • Staying up to date and following directions
    • Keeping hands clean

In the future, Dr Veitch has indicated that the public health threat posed due to COVID-19 will be manageable with workplace health and safety practices, as are other communicable diseases.
