Victoria has new disability Minister

NDS congratulates Colin Brooks MP on his new appointment as the Victorian Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers. We look forward to meeting with the new Minister shortly to brief him on key issues for disability service providers.

We thank the outgoing Minister Anthony Carbines for his commitment to the disability sector.

Emerging Stronger Grants

Grants of up to $80,000 are available for volunteering initiatives and innovations in Victoria through the Emerging Stronger Grants program. The government is providing $1 million in grants to support local partnerships and innovation projects to encourage volunteers whose roles were impacted by the pandemic to return, while growing and diversifying the pool of Victorian volunteers.

The Emerging Stronger Grants program is an opportunity for the disability sector to expand its volunteer base.

The grants focus on opportunities for volunteering to be more inclusive, accessible, flexible, safe, and enjoyable, so more Victorians can get involved.

Projects may include initiatives that reduce barriers and discrimination or use inclusive engagement practices.

The grants opened on 4 July and will close on 18 July 2022.
