The Federal Government’s Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Bill 2022 passed both houses of parliament on Friday 2 December 2022. The legislation will see major changes to Australia’s workplace relations framework.

The bill was introduced on 27 October 2022 and immediately referred to the Senate Education and Employment Committee for inquiry and report by 17 November 2022.

NDS’s submission to the Senate Committee voiced our concerns about the lack of consultation and potential unintended consequences of rushing through the Parliament such major reforms to Australia’s workplace relations framework. NDS’s submission (no.38) is on the Committee’s website.
