WA Sector Readiness Project: Ordering, Receiving, Storage and Reconciliation of S8 and PRN Medications

For disability service providers in Western Australia
Prevention of medication incidents and drug adverse events for S8 and PRN medications, starts in the receiving, disposing and reconciliation of medications.
This one-hour session will provide an overview of NDIS provider responsibilities in relation to S8 and PRN medications and discuss the importance of continuity of supports in meeting the health care needs of people with disability.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Explore the accountabilities of the support worker, pharmacy staff and management in receiving, storage, disposing and reconciliation of medications
- Examine the need for early identification, timely administration, and evaluation of the effectiveness of PRN medications

Participants will leave with a copy of the presentation and any resources mentioned throughout the workshop.

This workshop has been developed for frontline leaders, senior leaders and quality managers from disability service providers in Western Australia.

This workshop will be facilitated by Ruth Littler. Ruth is a registered nurse and has worked in the public and private health care sectors as a school health nurse, patient advocate, coordinator of a registered training organisation, project manager, managing a residential aged care facility and healthcare consultancy.
