This is the second of two workshops to help providers understand the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework. Find out more about the first workshop on our webpage.

The Reportable Conduct Scheme is a key element of the new legally mandated Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework (the Framework). The Reportable Conduct Scheme requires leaders of specific organisations to notify an independent regulator when concerns are raised about conduct related to child abuse involving a worker, and conduct investigations.

The Framework will apply to a wide range of Tasmanian organisations that engage with children and young people from 2024 onwards. This includes disability services providers who provide services specifically for children and/or young people or facilities specifically for use by children/and or young people who are under the supervision of the organisation.

The Framework sets out:

  • how organisations prioritise and promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • how organisations respond when there are concerns about a workers’ behaviour towards children and young people engaging with the organisation
  • the importance of independent oversight of how organisations fulfil their obligations under the Framework
  • when it is appropriate or inappropriate to share information concerning a workers’ conduct towards a child or young person

About the facilitator:

Speakers from the Department of Justice will introduce the Child and Youth Safe Standards, including the Universal Principle for Aboriginal Cultural Safety. The disability sector will be represented by Mary Mallett the Interim Disability Commissioner, the NDIA and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission who will be available to answer questions about how the new Framework will work along side existing standards.

They are particularly interested in hearing from participants in advance, to make sure the session is as useful as possible, via a short survey

Who Should Attend?
