Call for papers

National Disability Services (NDS) invites presentations for its upcoming NDS Workforce Conference, to be held virtually on 5 June 2024, to help shape and drive the conference program.

The theme of this year's conference is 'Working well', providing an opportunity to take time out from the daily grind to explore innovative strategies to support workplace wellbeing.

The benefits of mentally healthy workplaces are many, including thriving workers, increased productivity, engagement and job satisfaction, retention and attraction of great staff coupled with a decrease in absenteeism, work-related injuries and illnesses, and workers’ compensation claims. All essential to providing high quality, reliable and safe services for people with disability.

We welcome high-quality submissions from disability sector leaders and experts like you and invite you to contribute to this important conversation by submitting a paper to join the conference program.

The conference program will be segmented to target individuals, leaders and HR professionals in the disability sector, and we encourage you to submit an abstract that aligns to one or all these segments.

Themes or areas for submission may focus on:

  • Addressing staff recruitment and retention issues
  • Strategies for promoting work-life balance to address burnout and compassion fatigue
  • Innovative approaches to employee wellness programs
  • Supporting inclusive, diverse and supportive workplace cultures
  • Skills and training to help create future leaders

Submit an abstract of up to 300 words by filling out the form below. A programming committee will be convened to review and shortlist submissions.

Submissions close 11:59 pm AEST, Friday, 22 March 2024. For any queries, please contact submit enquiry/feedback.

Who Should Attend?

Allied health practitioners, support workers, sole traders, individuals, Human Resources professionals and leaders working in the disability sector.
