Call for providers to help develop Emergency and Disaster Management resources
18/11/2022
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguards Commission has funded the development of a toolkit of emergency and disaster resources.
The toolkit will support NDIS providers and people with disability to plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies, such as flooding, bushfires and pandemics. It will help providers comply with the Emergency and Disaster Management NDIS Practice Standard.
Kaleidoscope Focus will deliver the project and is calling for NDIS providers to be involved in the co-design process and consultations. They would like to hear from NDIS Providers about their experiences in recent emergencies and how they plan to meet the new regulatory requirements.
You’ll find online surveys and can register for the online group consultations at Projects – Kaleidoscope Focus.
Provider Alert for Natural Disaster Preparedness
The NDIS Commission has also issued an NDIS Provider Alert: Natural disaster preparedness reminder. It reminds providers of their obligations to plan and prepare for emergencies and natural disasters under the NDIS Standards.
As part of their preparedness, providers can attend the 2022 High Risk Weather Season Preparedness Briefing on 25 November, held by the National Emergency Management Agency specifically for members of the disability sector.
