Understanding Abuse Forums - New South Wales
Zero Tolerance is a national initiative for disability service providers to strengthen approaches which support the human rights of people with disability. It aims to prevent abuse, neglect and violence and improve responses for people who experience abuse.
A range of Zero Tolerance tools and resources are available for free.
NDS is pleased to offer these free 'Understanding Abuse' forums to support service providers across NSW to engage with the Zero Tolerance resources to prevent abuse and empower the people they support.
Forums include an interactive presentation co-facilitated by NDS staff including people with disability from NDS's ProjectABLE team.
Engaging videos and group discussion will encourage worker reflection on current practice, sharing experiences and building on positive practice.
Representatives of the NSW Ombudsman will also be at each forum to provide information and advice.
What will the forums cover?
- An introduction to the Zero Tolerance Framework
- How to use the suite of free Zero Tolerance resources
- Factors that increase risk of abuse and neglect, including power and control
- Empowering practice and positive approaches to support
Who should come to the forums?
