National Disability Services (NDS) and Community Disability Alliance Hunter (CDAH) invite you to join us for an exciting forum about ways we can support people with disability to be safe, included, connected, in control of and receiving high quality support.

The event will also present a set of Zero Tolerance films about Positive Cultures, which are available here. The films and workshops will help you start a conversation about what it means to have a positive culture and what you can do in your organisation to help every person feel valued, listened to and safe to speak up.

Miranda Bruyniks, Complaints Commissioner, will join us to talk about the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and what the NDIS Commission is doing to support people with disability and their networks to build safe, high-quality supports. We will also be joined by Kathryn McKenzie from the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission to hear about the role of the Ageing and Disability Commission in supporting quality and safeguarding in community and family settings.

Through stories, conversations and panels including people with disability and their families, representatives from government, and disability service providers, the workshops will explore how people with a disability, their families and the people and providers that they choose to support them, are developing new ways of working together.

Who should attend?

This workshop is for everyone! We all have a part to play in creating positive cultures, and this is an important conversation to have together. We invite people with disability, people working in the sector, families, service providers and others to join us for what we hope will be a fun and informative day.

Accessibility

This venue is wheelchair accessible. Auslan Interpereters will be present.
