Register your interest in the WA Aboriginal Employment project

Banner reads: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Guide and Toolkit

In August 2019, NDS released the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Guide and Toolkit to assist disability service organisations to develop their capability to grow their Aboriginal workforce.

With thanks to the WA Department of Communities, this project will continue until 30 June 2021 and disability service providers in WA can register their interest to participate by emailing  submit enquiry/feedback.

Over the past 18 months, 15 organisations have worked through the Guide and Toolkit in sessions facilitated by NDS and Aboriginal Cultural Consultant, Mandy Gadsdon.

90% of WA organisations that participated have reported that the capacity and capability for their cultural responsiveness has improved since attending the workshops. There has also been significant proportional increases in Aboriginal job applicants, successful appointments and retention rates.

Participants in these complimentary face to face or virtual workshops are guided through a self-assessment process which identifies their organisation’s strengths, areas for improvement and actions across two stages:

• Stage 1: Organisational Readiness: - Foundations and Preparation of the Workplace
• Stage 2: Employment Strategies: - Attraction, Recruitment and Retention

As part of the workshop, we work with participants to draft a Continuous Improvement Action Plan for your organisation and provide ongoing personalised advice and implementation support thereafter.
