Context

Over many years, WA’s disability sector has built social capital, infrastructure and linkages which support and include people with disability in their communities. During this enormous NDIS reform, it’s imperative that we continue to build on this legacy to enable the sector to grow and adapt and be strategically focused, influential, and lead the way forward. There are great opportunities as well as major implementation and transition challenges with the increased demand for services that the NDIS will bring in more locations across WA. This was the case in other jurisdictions as noted by the Productivity Commission. It is critical we ensure the lessons learned from the failed implementation experience of other jurisdictions are capitalised on, so that risk is minimalised and appropriate structures are put in place to respond effectively when risk is realised.Event
