Creating a Sustainable Culture - Performance Management
Performance Management. Full stop!
For a long time, these two words have signalled a conversation most of us would prefer to avoid.
In our discomfort, we often keep our distance and resort to using emails for keeping performance on track. But work performance issues need to be discussed, and the level of translation and understanding on the part of the staff member needs to be assessed and supported in discussion.
A person-centred management culture invites us to integrate performance management as a natural continuation of conversations already underway, supported by a 'whole of job' focus, clear strategic core requirements and performance expectations, a consistent approach and regular reviews.
It's about developing capabilities required for success rather than only a strict review of performance. And doing it well is a key aspect of continuing to cultivate a sustainable culture.
Come along to the final workshop in this series and see how.
