How do you tune in and increase your listening skills when working with people who don’t use words to communicate?

In this workshop we'll learn about:

  • the Zero Tolerance Framework
  • the fundamental rights that relate to communication
  • general skills to support communication of people with disability
  • introductory skills to support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
  • how to support your staff to learn about tuning in and listening

Facilitators

Sarah Nicoll, National Practice Lead - Zero Tolerance. Sarah has been working in the sector for over 20 years in a diverse range of roles.

Meaghan O'Shannessy, member of the NDS Practice Support Network. Meaghan is active within various roles in the disability sector and is always seeking ways for people to be heard. She has worked across a number of Zero Tolerance projects

Who should attend?

Practice Support Leaders, Direct Support Team Leaders, and Learning and Development Managers are most suited to attend.
