Support Coordinators play a significant role in helping participants get the best outcomes from their NDIS plans. These two workshops are tailored to existing and aspiring Support Coordinators in WA.

Workshop One – The Art of Support Coordination

A workshop for existing, new and aspiring Support Coordinators in WA.

Support Coordinators assist participants to navigate the NDIS, link with community and mainstream supports, service providers and government agencies. Support Coordinators are emerging as playing a significant role in helping participants to get the best outcomes from their NDIS funded plans.

What you will learn:
• Background and context for Support Coordinators in WA
• Exploration of key NDIS concepts that apply to the Support Coordination role
• Applying the “lens of possibility” – flexible and creative approaches in the NDIS
• How to walk alongside an individual as they navigate the NDIS
• Breathe life into an individual’s NDIS plan – bringing it off paper and into reality
• Is it Reasonable and Necessary?
• Working in the NDIS world of Billable Hours
• Understanding Plan Reviews and reporting requirements
• The Support Coordinators Consortium (Peer Network) in WA

Workshop Two – Elevating the Art of Support Coordination

A full-day workshop for existing Support Coordinators and/or those that have done the Art of Support Coordination (Day 1), looking deeper into the Art of Support Coordination and exploring key concepts, including:
• Using the NDIS Portal, for participants and providers
• The NDIS intersections and COAG agreement
• The nitty gritty of report writing
• Quality and Safeguards, Serious Incident Reporting
• Unpacking the “tricky stuff”
• Understanding and using the NDIS Price Guide
• How to spot and what to do about ‘dodgy’ practice

About the presenters:

Paula Elliott joined Valued Lives as a Network Manager in September 2015 bringing with her extensive professional and lived experience as a passionate disability advocate and peer support networker to the team. She has many years’ experience in the disability sector including as a Local Area Coordinator, My Way Coordinator, Supervisor and Area Manager

Chloe Grant joined Valued Lives Foundation in 2018 as a Peer Network Advisor and Specialist Support Coordinator. Chloe is a qualified social worker and is also a qualified trainer/assessor and enjoys sharing her knowledge in areas such as person-centred active support, disability and sexuality and protective behaviours.
