Risk Management, Leadership Fundamentals (two-part series): WA Quality and Safeguards Sector Readiness Project

Yellow and blue beach. In white text it says WA Quality and Safeguards Sector Readiness Project
Location: Western Australia (online)
Date: 28/03/2023
Free online workshop for disability service providers in Western Australia.

Risk management is about dealing with the effect of uncertainty on our plans. Risk management offers a toolkit to management and leaders of methods and concepts that are essential to managing strategy, projects and operations - as well as compliance.

This two-part workshop steps you through some of the concepts and practical tools you can use. Risk management is so much more than spreadsheets, hazards and controls! It can help you to realise opportunities and minimise problems.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts, issues, and methods of contemporary risk management and how to apply these methods to real issues
  • Demystify risk management and learn how to explain the concepts to others
  • Move beyond a box-ticking approach to apply risk management thinking creatively in your organisation.

What will I leave with?

Participants will have the opportunity to practice applying techniques in risk management, with support from the facilitator, and will leave with a template that can help them to implement the principles explored in the workshop.

This workshop will be delivered by Andrew Lee. Andrew is a strategy, risk, and policy specialist with over 20 years’ experience including seven years at Senior Executive Service level in the Government of Western Australia. Andrew’s consulting experience includes risk and strategy training and advice to the not-for-profit and public sectors, and has focused on helping the disability service sector to use risk management insights and methods to build leadership capacity and to think and act strategically.
