NSW Government seeks input on flexible work practices in NSW public sector

Person at work holding up a mug and smiling.

NSW Premier Mike Baird has publicly committed to making all roles in the NSW government sector flexible by 2019, asking, ‘If a position can’t be adopted for flexible work practices, why not?’

The NSW Public Service Commission is seeking public comment on the concept of flexible working in order to provide formal advice to the NSW Government.

The Commission has released a Discussion Paper that sets out a proposed approach to build the sector’s flexible working capacity in order to realise the Premier’s commitment. Feedback gathered on the discussion paper and its 14 key questions will inform the draft flexible working strategy being developed by Deloitte for the NSW government. The draft strategy will focus on evolving the culture of the sector so employees are valued for their output and able to make choices about where, when and how they work to deliver outcomes. The flexible working discussion paper can be accessed here. Responses can be submitted by email to . Members seeking to inform the NDS submission can provide feedback to Paul Musso () by 5pm, 30 January 2017.The closing date for responses on the discussion paper is 6 February 2017.
