Developing Effective Policy
This practical workshop is for organisations developing or reviewing policies as part of their commitment to providing high quality services and safeguarding people with disability.
Participants will learn how to develop policy and are invited to nominate key policy issues to be addressed as examples throughout the training.
Attendees will work through the key steps of policy development including:
- How to research policy
- Options for consulting with stakeholders
- Legal requirements
- Writing policy principles and a policy statement
- Capturing core elements of procedure as part of policy development
Presenter: Alison Blake is the Managing Director of Strategic Support and Chair of the Quality and Safeguarding Community of Practice. She has worked in the disability sector for 10 years in the areas of strategy, quality and engagement.

This workshop has been developed for Senior Managers and key staff involved in the development of organisational policies.
