Recognising and communicating change in the people you support.

Learn what changes to look for to recognise and monitor any deterioration in someone’s health, behaviour or abilities you are supporting. Recognising and communicating change in those you support is a key responsibility in helping people maintain their health.

This course will show you an easy way to remember what changes to look and listen for to maintain the safety and wellbeing of the person you support.

Course outcomes:

  • Be aware of the benefits of identifying change in the person you support
  • Know what to look and listen for when identifying change
  • Use a simple method to remember what changes to be aware of
  • Case study practice in small groups
  • Instructor feedback on communicating change for safety.

This workshop is in partnership with Preventing Harm Initiative (PHI) and facilitated by Donny Raets. Donny's expertise is in creating manageable ways to identify, report, investigate and most importantly, how to prevent or reduce the likelihood of recurrence.  Donny holds a Diploma of Teaching, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Cert IV Aged and Community Care and has 30 plus years’ experience in education, ranging from Primary through to Tertiary (Vocational Education and Training), remote Indigenous Communities and the Corporate sector.
