Working at NDS
Do you have an interest or passion in working for the disability sector? A career at NDS can give you a unique opportunity to provide support, advice and advocacy for disability service organisations – the groups working tirelessly to support Australians with disability. Through this, you can contribute to creating greater opportunities and a more inclusive society for people with disability.
Whether you join us at our head office in ACT or at one of our state offices, NDS can offer you a flexible, challenging and rewarding career. We offer a wide range of roles – from advocating for our member organisations at government levels or providing them with information and advice, networking opportunities and business support, you’re sure to find a job that suits your skills and passion.
As an employer, NDS also offers the following staff benefits.
As an employee of a not-for-profit organisation such as NDS, you can take advantage of salary packaging benefits. This means you can use part of your pre-tax salary to pay for things such as rent, mortgage and travel. In addition, you can also tailor your remuneration package to suit your financial and personal needs.
Paid parental leave
In addition to the Australian Government’s eighteen weeks’ paid maternity leave, NDS offers employees four weeks’ paid maternity leave for staff who have been employed for 12 months or more.
NDS supports and promote family responsibilities. NDS Offices are closed between Christmas and New Year holidays, giving our staff the opportunity to connect with family and friends in celebrating the holiday season.
NDS recognises our longstanding employees, with long service leave available.
Through staff membership to National Disability Practitioners, which is an initiative of NDS, NDS staff can take advantage of sector networking opportunities as well as corporate discounts for travel, entertaining and dining experiences.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Maintaining the mental wellbeing of our staff is important to NDS. The EAP is a voluntary and confidential counselling service which offers free counselling services to NDS staff. This service provides an initial assessment of presenting issues before offering appropriate therapeutic interventions for clients.
