The NSW Government released a discussion paper outlining several proposed reforms to the Child and Young Person's (Care and Protection) Act, and the NSW Adoption Act. The NDS response considers the impact of the proposed reforms on adults and parents with disability and children and young people with disability, and how the reforms in the disability sector will interact with the child protection system. NDS has focused its response to on key questions in the discussion paper impacting people with disability and disability service provision. Overall, acknowledgement of people with disability and a subsequent a level of flexibility and responsiveness is suggested for these reforms.
