This web resource was one of the outcomes of the DADHC funded National Disability Services Aboriginal Resources and Pathways project (ARP) that identified and promoted effective ways for disability service providers to improve the rates of access and outcomes for Aboriginal people. Background information on the ARP.

This web resource operates as an online resource to assist disability services to improve the delivery of services and support for Aboriginal families. The main functions are:

  • Population data hub on Aboriginal communities by Local Government Area.
  • An events section and existing local networks and community inter-agencies to foster networking between Aboriginal communities and disability services.
  • Literature on successful and practical ways disability services established services targeted at Aboriginal communities.
  • Research on disability within Aboriginal communities.
  • The inhibiters and enablers experienced by disability services in working effectively with Aboriginal communities and ways to overcome those barriers.
  • Information on relevant government initiatives and projects.
  • Questions and suggestion section for disability services and Aboriginal communities to upload information.

NDS encourages the public to suggest practical resources, update local community events and committees or to join a local network of disability services and Aboriginal communities in their jurisdiction.
