Community Care Coalition - Media Kit
- 13 September 2004
"The importance of the contribution made to the well being and independent living capability of older people and people with a disability by community care in NSW is not well understood in the broader community.
Community care services are in need of substantial additional attention and resources.
The arguments for why community care is important are indeed compelling because today, many more people who need assistance with day to day living receive support at home from community care services than in residential care settings.
Community care is care delivered to older people and people with a disability, in their own home instead of in an institution (otherwise known as residential care). As the name implies, care at home often involves volunteers from the community and carers in addition to paid staff."

2004 ATLAS STATE CONFERENCE CANCELLED
- 04 August 2004
The Organising Committee sincerely regrets to inform all delegates, sponsors, presenters and participants that the 2004 ATLAS State Conference scheduled for 1st-3rd September 2004 in Coffs Harbour has been cancelled. The decision to cancel was taken by the Organising Committee.
Over recent weeks due to activities and issues associated with the implementation of the ATLAS Reforms it has become evident that the majority of organisations and stakeholders were experiencing difficulty supporting the attendance and participation of staff and stakeholders. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the anticipated number of delegates to a point where it is neither viable or appropriate to proceed with the conference at this time.
Delegates who have registered will be contacted by Wednesday 11th August 2004 and arrangements made for the reimbursement fees.
Further enquiries can be made by contacting Coffs Harbour Support Services by telephone on (02) 66 511 526 or by e-mail on admin@coffssupport.com

Announcement from The Minister For Industrial Relations, John Della Bosca
- 10 May 2004
On 5 May, the NSW Minister for Industrial Relations, John Della Bosca, announced that the NSW Government had dropped plans to introduce grouping provisions in workers compensation. The grouping initiative, which was to be implemented from 30 June this year, was designed to address the issue of entities “restructuring into multiple smaller companies” to minimise workers compensation premiums. In its submission to WorkCover in October 2003, ACROD NSW warned of the unintended consequences and real disadvantages of such an approach for non-government disability services, especially for those operating a diversity of services.
