NDS NSW is organising training on the implementation of the DADHC Health Care Policy and Procedures 2007 and Epilepsy Policy and Procedures 2006. Implementation of these policies is mandatory for all organisations funded by DADHC to provide accommodation support and centre based respite services.

It is important that all DADHC funded supported accommodation and respite providers make arrangements for a representative of their organisation to attend a training session. There are no costs for training participants to attend the training. The cost of travel to and from the training sessions, as well as accommodation and sustenance costs, will be reimbursed for all trainees upon completion of the training. Details of the reimbursement schedule are available from NDS.

The training will be provided in a “facilitative learning” format, and those attending will receive resource materials and knowledge to deliver in-house training on the Health Care and Epilepsy Policies to direct care staff in their services. Training participants should bring their current Health Care and Epilepsy policies or procedures to the training to ensure they make the best use of the training.

The Health Care Policy and Epilepsy Policy training will inform services about the requirements of the policies. During the training sessions, services will also have the opportunity to review their own Health Care and Epilepsy procedures to determine whether they meet the requirements of the DADHC policies.

Following the training services are expected to review their procedures and ensure that they meet the mandatory principles of the DADHC Health Care and Epilepsy policies by July 2008.
