Providers of employment support to people with disability are facing a period of significant change. Major policy developments, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme and welfare-to-work reforms, will have a pronounced impact on disability employment support. Service providers operate in an increasingly competitive environment, which demands astute business and management skills.
Disability Employment Services and Australian Disability Enterprises are confronting critical issues: What is an appropriate performance framework? How should the quality of employment be defined and measured? How should services be funded? What does a 'choice and control' approach to service provision mean in the context of employment? How can service providers best build and sustain the relationships with businesses that support the employment of people with disability?
The Government has released its ten year Vision for supported employment. What changes would the implementation of this Vision entail? What should be the Vision for Disability Employment Services?
National Disability Services is hosting a two-day conference to help equip providers of disability employment services - open and supported - with knowledge and strategies to assist them to succeed in this demanding environment.
In addition to policy and practice sessions, the conference will include a stream on managing a not-for-profit disability organization led by US expert Peter Brinckerhoff.
