Farm - Manager
The Compass Farm comprises a 20 acre property on the outskirts of Palmwoods with an office, manager's residence, nursery, work shed and activity area. Through its five staff members the Farm provides training and vocational experience for up to 20 young people with intellectual and physical disabilities. The Farm aspires to balance economic viability, sustainable land use and social role valourisation.
The Manager's residence is included as part of the position package.
Award: Qld Community Services level 4.1 - $26.22 per hour (after 3 month probation)

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully follow business and financial plans (contribute to visioning & business planning; write reports; develop and manage budgets & spread sheets etc)
- Demonstrated ability to develop land use practices along organic principles (layout of gardens and orchards, animal husbandry, crop selection / rotation etc to maximise quality and productivity)
- Demonstrated ability in the area of staff management and development (provide leadership and mentoring that will contribute to the retention and engagement of staff; develop and implement work plans and schedules for staff and trainees)
- Demonstrated ability to engage with, lead and work alongside people with a disability (a qualification in this area is desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to use and maintain Farm vehicles and machinery (tractor, ride-on mower, plough / rotary hoe, mowers etc)
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer, internet / email and basic Microsoft programmes
Demonstrated ability to represent an organisation and build positive links within the community - Demonstrated ability to work with a Board and CEO within the framework of a not-for-profit organisation
