NDS encourages members to apply for the Traffic Accident Commission (TAC) 2024 Value-based Healthcare Innovation Grants, which will open on 15 April.

The grants give up to $150,000 to health and disability providers for projects in value-based healthcare. The program is in its third year.

While this program uses the language of healthcare, the grants are for projects that support the delivery of client outcomes at a sustainable cost, and so are open to disability services.

Projects must address an area of priority for people with transport accident injuries and should focus on known gaps in services. A grant can be used to support research, pilot projects or other initiatives.

Value-based healthcare is a patient-centric approach to support sustainable health outcomes. Underpinning it are four criteria:

  • the outcomes for the patient
  • the patient’s experience of care
  • the provider’s experience of care
  • the effectiveness and efficiency of care.

Value-based healthcare gives patients more say in their treatment and empowers them to achieve the goals that matter most. Previous grant recipients have developed projects for people with chronic pain, pelvic trauma and traumatic brain injury.

If you are interested, you can check your eligibility, study the grant guidelines, learn about previous projects and read the application questions before you apply on the TAC website. Applications close on 31 May.

You can also get 30 minutes of pre-application support or join an online information session on Monday 22 April from 12:00 to 1:00pm Just contact the TAC to register: research@tac.vic.gov.au.
